My name is Amanda Hensley and I teach sixth grade in Oakdale, California. Sixth grade is still part of elementary school in my district, so I teach multiple subjects in a self-contained classroom. I've been teaching for sixteen years - I started out teaching fourth grade, then moved to third, and finally settled into sixth grade (which is my favorite). I received my undergraduate degree from Santa Clara University and my teaching credential from Cal State University, Hayward. I'm currently pursuing my Master's degree in Educational Technology through Boise State University. I love learning and am passionate about technology. I was thrilled to lead my district's 1:1 Chromebook pilot program last year and completely revolutionized my teaching by integrating the technology and new Common Core standards. Over the past couple of years, I have become a Google Educator and a SMART Exemplary Educator, and enjoy sharing my tech expertise with other teachers in my district and at local conferences.
The purpose of this blog is to share my experiences incorporating Chromebooks and other technology into my teaching, hopefully to support and inspire others.
